A safety net for a community is something that cannot be replaced, and we want to make sure that no one falls through the gaps.

Community is very much at the center of what we do and what we are trying to embrace. There are quite a few national and international NGOs active in Sri Lanka, especially after big events such as the tsunami in 2004 or the economic crisis that started in 2019. A lot of great work has been done there, but when the immediate crisis is over, people still find themselves in difficult situations. A growing number of children in Sri Lanka can’t go to school anymore, and many families still struggle with malnutrition and meeting other basic needs.

What sets us apart is that we want to do consistent work over a long period of time on a small scale in the communities. We are creating a consistent safety net within the communities that is reliable when people need it.
